I like music - a lot - and many people have told me they like the things I like so… I figured why not blog about the stuff I’m listening to? It figures rather largely in This Developer’s Life - so why not? Therefore - following in Nate’s footsteps I figured I’d blog a bit about some albums I like.

The first one that comes to mind is The Ike Reilly Assassination. This album is all over the place with rockin, old-style blues … the kind dripping with irreverance and edgy riffs normally found with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Each song seems to build on the last - lumbering through phases of sobriety and musical influences. The 3rd track (Valentine’s Day in Juarez) is a study in Stones’ style bottle-hoisting yarns… and you can’t help but start singing along after the second chorus… even if it’s your first time hearing it.
For me, the best song on the album was saved to near-last: Bugsy Salcido Has Fled The Desert. It creeps out of your headphones in a haunting … well “deserty” shake that reminds me squarely of Calexico’s “Gypsy’s Curse” - but with a little more blues lovin.
All in all a great album if you’re a fan of “old-school” rock with heavy blues influence.
